Its the voltage you have to look at. In UK/Europe we all use 240 volts but have different plugs. In America they use 240 and/also 110 volts. Look on the label if it says 240 or 110~240 volts it will be ok to use in UK/Europe.
The plug can be changed either by using a converter/adapter, or just remove the plug and fit a UK one.
OK Nick, if you want to be real clever, mains voltage actually fluctuates between 220 and 250 in UK/Europe. Electric devices that are designed for the 240 volt system have been made with this in mind, and will work within this range.
